Glitz, Glamour, and Golden Globes 2024 : A Night of Stars and Statuettes!

The Golden Globes 2024 were held last night at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, and comedian Jo Koy presented the event. The 81st edition, which recognizes achievements in both cinema and television, starts off the highly anticipated awards season—and the amazing attire that goes with it.

Barbie and Succession top the night with nine nominations each, while Oppenheimer is second with eight.

Other notable performers of the evening include Killers of the Flower Moon, Poor Things, Past Lives, and The Bear. (The complete list of nominees may be seen here.) This is the first ceremony since the dissolution of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association last year. It will now be given by the Golden Globe Foundation, which is made up of Elridge Industries and Dick Clark Productions.

The Globes are also making history tonight by introducing a completely new category:

Cinematic and Box Office Achievement. As the name implies, this new award recognizes high-grossing films, many of which would not ordinarily garner these coveted nominations. While Barbenheimer clearly dominated movie theaters this summer, the inaugural class of nominees includes Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, John Wick: Chapter 4, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

Last year’s highlights were Jessica Chastain’s Oscar de la Renta crystal spiderweb dress, Rihanna’s enormous Schiaparelli gown, Hillary Swank’s Prada pregnancy outfit, and Emma D’Arcy’s Acne Studios suiting.
