Samsung Galaxy Unpacked: The Galaxy S24 series may outperform Apple iPhones in this regard.

Introduction

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Series will make its debut on January 17. The new phone is being marketed as a significant upgrade over the previous models in the top Galaxy line-up, since it brings AI to the forefront. However, the new series will provide more than just that. Samsung may expand support for its flagship Galaxy series to compete with Google’s Pixel series.

According to an exclusive story from Android Headlines, Samsung may provide an unprecedented seven years of software support for the next Galaxy flagships. While it is unknown if this involves security patches or complete Android and One UI upgrades, the latter might signal a big change in the Android ecosystem, perhaps driving other smartphone makers to follow suit.

This move follows Google’s offer last October of seven years of software and security upgrades for the Pixel 8 series. Samsung had hinted at extending security patches for its smartphones at the time, but had not announced any Android or One UI improvements.

The issue now is whether Samsung’s prior flagships, like the Galaxy S23 series and the Galaxy Z Fold 5/Z Flip 5, will benefit from this expanded software support. According to SamMobile, Samsung may include its 2023 flagships in this program, similar to how it increased the number of Android and One UI updates for the Galaxy S21 from three to four.

Free AI Features

According to the Android Headlines story, Samsung plans to make the Galaxy AI features available for free until 2025. However, there is concern that some of these capabilities may be concealed behind a paywall beginning in 2026. If accurate, this might create a precedent for the industry, despite the fact that Google already provides a complete suite of AI functions on the Pixel 8 series for free.

Samsung Galaxy Unpacking Event

The Unpacked event will take place on January 17. The Galaxy S24 leaks began last year, showing everything from the materials used in the upcoming flagships to the AI-powered camera tricks they can do. Meanwhile, Samsung is enabling people to reserve the Galaxy S24 before of its formal launch. The “Next Galaxy VIPPASS” is available for Rs 1,999. Those who pre-reserve the smartphone might receive rewards of Rs 5000 or more.
